Colonic Irrigation FAQs
How long will my colonic irrigation session take?
Please allow 75 minutes for your entire appointment. This includes parking, an initial consultation (for first-time clients) or a follow-up consultation (for returning clients), treatment duration of up to 50 minutes and toilet time at the end.
We ask that you arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before your appointment so we can ensure the space is perfectly prepared for you. If you are more than 15 minutes late, your appointment will be forfeited and your deposit will be lost.
Is colonic irrigation painful?
No, when facilitated correctly colonics should not be painful. At times some people do experience mild cramping and discomfort due to gas pockets and waste compaction in the lower area of the colon, but these symptoms dissolve once the body starts releasing the gas, waste and toxins.
Who is colonic irrigation best suited for?
Colonic irrigation is best suited to individuals aged 18 and above. However, in some cases, girls 16 years and above can have a colonic irrigation treatment done. This requires a mature understanding of the treatment process and a clear cause of symptoms must be discussed with the practitioner prior to booking.
Can I have a colonic if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. Both pregnancy and breastfeeding are sensitive periods where the body is working at capacity to support the growth and development of another life. Additionally, the foetus and baby are vulnerable to any changes or increased toxin exposure within the mother's system. Therefore, detoxification processes that mobilise waste and toxins are generally considered unsafe.
Does colonic irrigation affect the balance of good and bad bacteria?
Good and bad bacteria are both removed during the treatment, however they both replenish themselves quickly, creating a more balanced and favourable environment for the beneficial bacteria to thrive in.
It's important to understand that both good and bad bacteria are beneficial and essential parts of the microbiome and our digestive system cannot function optimally or remain in balance without them. Therefore true gut health is finding balance and maintaining harmony with all the bacteria.
What should I expect after a colonic irrigation session?
After a session, most clients feel a sense of increased energy and relaxation. The small percentage of people who feel tired and lethargic may just need to rest due to higher toxic loads being released during the session. Continued hydration and a good night's sleep will have you feeling clearer, calmer and re-energised.
It's also not uncommon to experience deeper emotional releases as your body eliminates toxins, so being mindful of what comes up and allowing space to process it is an important part of the cleansing process.
Are there dietary recommendations after colonic irrigation?
Yes, it's recommended to drink plenty of water, eat light, easy-to-digest foods like vegetable soups and steamed vegetables and to rest as required. Avoid rich, spicy, sugary and greasy foods and raw vegetables immediately after the session. Alcohol should also be avoided as it can dehydrate the body and interfere with the post-treatment recovery process.
How often should I have colonic irrigation?
This varies depending on the individual. For initial cleansing, a series of 3 sessions within the first few weeks is commonly recommended to achieve optimal results. After this initial phase, maintenance sessions can be scheduled monthly or seasonally depending on your health goals, lifestyle and dietary habits. Sara will discuss a recommended plan during your consultation.
How do I prepare for my colonic session?
Eat easy-to-digest foods such as steamed vegetables, soups and simple proteins in the days leading up to your appointment. Stay hydrated and stop eating 3 hours prior to your appointment. Wear comfortable clothing and arrive on time to ensure your session runs smoothly.
How much does colonic irrigation cost?
A single colonic irrigation session is $170 for a 75-minute appointment (includes consultation and aftercare). A 3-pack is $450 with a 3-month expiry. The RESET Detox Package (Lymphatic Drainage + Colonic Irrigation) is $270 for 2 hours. View all pricing details.
Lymphatic Drainage Massage FAQs
What is lymphatic drainage massage?
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) massage is a gentle, rhythmic treatment designed to stimulate the lymphatic system and help remove waste, toxins and excess fluid from the body more efficiently. This style of massage uses light hand pressure and slow, precise movements to encourage lymph fluid to move towards the lymph nodes, where it's filtered and released out of the body.
What are the benefits of lymphatic drainage massage?
Lymphatic drainage massage offers numerous benefits including reduced fluid retention and improved fluid balance, promotion of the body's natural detoxification processes, improved circulation, immune system support, tension and stress relief, fibrosis support, post-surgery recovery aid (with clearance from your doctor), and enhanced results when combined with colonic irrigation.
How often should I have lymphatic drainage massage?
For optimal results, regular treatments are recommended. Many clients begin with weekly sessions to address specific concerns, then transition to fortnightly or monthly maintenance treatments depending on their individual needs, goals and response to treatment. Sara will discuss a recommended frequency during your consultation.
Is lymphatic drainage massage safe?
Lymphatic drainage massage is generally deemed safe. However, it is not recommended for individuals with active infections, congestive heart failure, blood clots (DVT), kidney failure or certain cancers unless cleared by a physician. If you have any health concerns, please discuss them with Sara before booking.
What should I expect after lymphatic drainage massage?
Many clients notice a visible reduction in puffiness and a more sculpted, refreshed appearance after just one session. It's also important to note that for some clients, regular treatments may be required for longer-lasting benefits and results. Afterwards, drink plenty of water, avoid high-intensity activities and rest as needed.
