Sara's Story — How Personal Health Led to a Holistic Health Clinic
People often ask how I ended up running a colonic irrigation and lymphatic drainage clinic in Liverpool. The honest answer is that I didn't plan it. My body led me here, through a health journey that changed how I understood wellness, healing and what it means to truly care for yourself from the inside out.
My Health Journey
For years, I lived with digestive symptoms that I accepted as normal. Bloating after most meals. Fatigue that coffee barely dented. Skin that cycled between dull and reactive regardless of which products I used. I went through the standard medical pathways: blood tests, ultrasounds, the suggestion that it was "probably just IBS" followed by a prescription for something that managed symptoms without addressing why they existed.
I tried elimination diets, supplements, probiotics, herbal teas, cleanses from health food shops. Some helped temporarily; none resolved the underlying pattern. The frustration was not the symptoms themselves but the growing sense that I was managing a condition rather than healing one. Something was off at a deeper level, and the approaches I was trying were all working at the surface.
How I Found Colonic Irrigation
My introduction to colonic irrigation came through a friend's recommendation rather than my own research. I was sceptical. The concept seemed confronting, and I had all the usual concerns about dignity and discomfort. But the friend was someone whose judgement I trusted, and her own transformation had been visible enough to override my hesitation.
The first session changed my understanding of what was possible. The volume of waste that my body released during that 75 minutes stunned me. I had been eating well, exercising regularly and taking probiotics, yet my colon was holding material that no amount of dietary fibre or supplement could have shifted. The physical sensation afterwards was revelatory: lighter, clearer, calmer in a way that went beyond the digestive.
Over the following weeks, I noticed improvements cascading across systems that I hadn't connected to my gut. My energy stabilised. The afternoon slumps disappeared. My skin began clearing without any change in my topical routine. The persistent brain fog that I had attributed to poor sleep lifted. And the bloating that had been my daily companion for years subsided to a level I hadn't experienced since my twenties.
15 Years as a Remedial Massage Therapist
By the time I discovered colonic irrigation, I was already deep into a career in remedial massage therapy. I had trained in multiple modalities, specialised in manual lymphatic drainage (Vodder method), and spent years working hands-on with clients whose bodies carried the evidence of stress, sedentary work, poor dietary habits and unprocessed emotional tension.
What my massage practice taught me was the language of the body. You learn to read tissue: where it holds, where it resists, where it softens, and what that pattern reveals about the person lying on your table. Lymphatic drainage in particular opened my eyes to how profoundly the fluid systems influence everything from immunity to energy to emotional state. When the lymph flows, the whole person shifts.
Combining this bodywork expertise with my personal colonic experience created a perspective that neither discipline alone could provide. I understood the colon from the inside (as a client) and the lymphatic system from the outside (as a practitioner). The connection between the two was obvious to me long before I had the clinical language to articulate it.
Why I Opened Clutter Clearing Colonics
The clinic exists because I could not find what I was looking for as a client. I wanted a practitioner who understood both internal cleansing and tissue-level bodywork, who treated the whole person rather than a single symptom, who took the time to build a genuine therapeutic relationship rather than cycling clients through a production line, and who approached the body with respect rather than clinical detachment.
I opened Clutter Clearing Colonics in Liverpool to be the practitioner I wished I had found. A sole-practitioner clinic where every session is personal, unhurried and informed by the full context of your health journey. Where colonic irrigation and lymphatic drainage are offered under one roof by one practitioner who understands how they complement each other. Where the conversation goes beyond "what are your symptoms?" to "what is your body trying to tell you?"
The name itself reflects the philosophy. Clutter Clearing Colonics is not about introducing something new to the body. It is about clearing away the accumulated burden so that the body's own intelligence can function as it was always designed to: heal, regulate and thrive. What Drives Me Every Day
After 15+ years, what keeps me in the treatment room is watching the moment of recognition on a first-timer's face when they realise what their body was carrying. That lightness. That clarity. The quiet surprise of discovering that the bloating, the fatigue, the foggy thinking were not permanent features of their personality but reversible consequences of a colon that needed attention.
I see it every week, and it never gets old. Clients who had accepted their symptoms as inevitable discovering that the baseline they settled for was far below what their body is actually capable of. That is the gift of this work: not the technical procedure, but the restoration of possibility. The body can feel better than you think it can. It just needs the clutter cleared.
"Every body deserves to be listened to, respected and given the conditions it needs to heal. That is my promise to every client who walks through the door. Your body is wise. Let's clear what's in its way."
